Steve J. Horvath (Guitar & Vocals)
Steve first got involved in music in
grade school taking up wind instruments along with piano lessons. During
middle school, he was given a guitar around the same time some of his friends
began playing. It became one of those things where the kids decided to
form a band before they could play! Eventually those guys got good, and
Steve along with his friends performed all over NJ through most of the 90s.
Steve's earliest influence was likely Roy Clark from watching Hee Haw as a kid. Amazed at his speed, precision and showmanship, the
guitar was always a thing of interest and curiosity as a child. Later on
after taking up the instrument, his biggest influences were early hard rock
bands out of England. In particular, he studied the playing of Jimmy Page
and Eric Clapton...and Jeff Beck whenever up for the challenge.
After finishing school and playing the local bar scene for a few years, Steve
became dissatisfied with basic rock playing. He then studied with a local
Blues/Jazz player for two years to open up the fretboard with some interesting
scales and chord extensions which are not often used in the basic rock cover
act. This had come in handy for the funk and disco aspect of Mo'rock and
he continues keeping it fresh today by putting some Mo(town) into the rock, and
some rock back into the Mo'!
